Vaccinations

Students

All students who will be in-person on UConn’s campuses during the fall 2021 semester are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The goal of this policy is to help safeguard health and wellness on our campuses and in our communities by reducing the risk that the virus will be transmitted and cause illness, particularly in high-density congregant settings such as residence halls, dining halls, and classrooms.

Vaccines are widely available, and we urge our students to be vaccinated if you have not already done so.

Student Health and Wellness (SHaW) is providing COVID-19 vaccines by appointment to our Storrs-based graduate and undergraduate students. To view the schedule and secure a dose, visit the SHaW patient portal. The vaccine is free, even without insurance and without ID — no one will be turned away.

International students may find details on vaccination and other requirements on the International Student & Scholar Services website.

Step #2: Vax Up

Fully vaccinated students are those who have received all recommended doses of an FDA-authorized or WHO-listed COVID-19 vaccine.  Fully vaccinated students will not need to participate in quarantine or surveillance testing.  Vaccinated students will be required to be tested if symptomatic for COVID-19.

Step #3: Put Your Photo Up

Students must have uploaded their vaccination status, whether complete or partial, to the Student Health Portal by July 31st. Vaccination status is protected health information and will not be publicly disclosed.

Faculty and Staff

As of August 18, 2021, the University of Connecticut and all of its campuses, including UConn Health, require employees to receive a vaccination for COVID-19 or be granted a deferral or a medical or religious exemption. The policy requires employees to report their vaccination status through an on-line University system.

  • Friday, September 10th – Deadline to upload verification of first dose for partially vaccinated employees or both doses for fully vaccinated employees. ALL employees, including those who received their vaccine via UConn Health at Hawley Armory or elsewhere, must upload proof into the system.
  • Monday, September 27th – Deadline for unvaccinated classified union employees to report vaccination status and begin weekly mandatory testing.
  • Friday, October 15th – Deadline for employees who previously reported their first dose to report their second dose date and documentation.

Visit the Human Resources website for the latest COVID-19-related information, including FAQs, employee vaccination and testing information, telecommuting information, travel restrictions, and well-being resources.
